Well, parenthood has really set in now and the days seem to have flown by since Rakaia was born... hard to believe she'll be a month old in 6 days!!!

Those of you who keep up with the news will be aware that there has been major flooding in our area in the last couple of weeks. Heavy rain in the mountains came washing down all the rivers that feed into the lakes system. The water rose around 150cm in metung (my educated guess) - the marina and boardwalk went completely under and a few low lying houses were threatened. Once the storm died down Rakaia and I went out in the sling to survey the scene....

Sadly we fell victim to the floods in our own small way - Joel drove back to melbourne intending to be away just for a night and ended up being trapped for 3 days because the roads were flooded. Luckily Nana Lavinia was here to look after Kate and Rakaia.
